Scope and content:

Series VI holds general correspondence, as well as various reports, notes, pamphlets and meeting minutes that reveal the reach of the president and vice president's offices. These files show the wide range of matters which Ellis, as acting President and then Vice President for Academic Affairs, was involved and interested in, from university policies to local, state and national organizations. The series is divided into two subseries. Alphabetical Files include information on a variety of topics, including national and state educational organizations, university legal matters and equal opportunity considerations and are arranged in alphabetical order. Of interest within this subseries are the files on Honorary Degrees awarded by the University, correspondence regarding the Olympic Sports Festival and a Sex Equity Study completed during the 1977-78 school year. The second subseries contains the correspondence of Leslie Ellis, during his time as acting Presi! dent, as well as Vice President. These files are arranged chronologically and cover the scope of his professional correspondence, with faculty and employees within the University, as well as correspondence with outside institutions and the general public.
