- Scope and content:
Series I contains correspondence, reports and notes related to Ellis' involvement with the State University System, both as acting President and as the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Materials are arranged in alphabetical order; the documents within the folders are arranged chronologically. Most material within this series relates to meetings for the Board of Regents, including meetings of special divisions of the Board, the budget, and correspondence files. A separate subseries is devoted to the Chancellor who was in frequent contact with the presidents and the Board of Regents by memorandum and another subseries is devoted to the Council of Presidents, which contains mostly meeting minutes. The General subseries contains files related to specific programs and interests of the State University System, including program reviews, faculty and labor issues and information about United Faculty of Florida. The final subseries contains information, includi! ng correspondence and programs, regarding other state universities in Florida.

- While most of the collection is open for research, some material containing faculty administrative reviews in Box 4 are closed until review by the University archivist in 2011.
