The folder includes a letter from Thomas J. McDonough, Vice Chancellor, Diocese of St. Augustine, Florida to Rev. Father Finegan, Corpus Christi Rectory, June 29, 1943, directing him to deliver personally a message from her husband secured by the Vatican Secretariat of States regarding his status as prisoner of war. The folder also contains two letters from Mary Penner to husband, 1945, returned sender. There is also in the folder a letter from Ernie Pyle's assistant to Mrs. Perner thanking her for card, October 20, 1943.
