Autographed Materials, 1737-2001
- Scope and content:
This subseries consists of items on which authors and others have signed their names (many signed by authors, printers, binders, editors, and other people in the literary field) as well as unsigned handwritten items whose writer can be assumed by making comparisons with authenticated writing. Many of the Shaw Collection books contain autographs and other written materials that cannot be removed from the books. Separation sheets in the Shaw Bibliography Notes for each author will indicate the book in which these non-removal items can be found.
