In 1932, she moved to Orlando, Florida with her parents at age 15. She graduated from the University of Miami and the University of Miami Law School. Ettinger was active in a variety of organizations, serving as Vice President of the Florida League of Women Voters, Director of Region IV of the National Displaced Homemaker Network, and Secretary of Learning Institute for Elders. Ettinger was instrumental in establishing the Central Florida Educational Consortium for Women. Her achievements were honored by the local community as Orlando's Outstanding Woman of the Year in 1977, Woman of Achievement in 1979 and Community Leader of the Year in 1981. She was nominated for the Florida Women's Hall of Fame in 1982 and 1984. \n \nIn 1966, a group of women met to start the Council for Continuing Education for Women in Orlando, an organization that offered educational and career opportunities for women. It was run by volunteers until 1974, when it cooperated with the Valencia Community College to establish the Center for Continuing Education for Women. The Center created and sponsored programs on a variety of topics designed to assist women who wanted to further their education and possibly return to the workforce. Ettinger was president of the Council and directed the Center until 1986, when Connie Fisher became Director. In 1991, the Council moved from Valencia Community College and entered into a new agreement with the University of Central Florida, where it continued with its work in association with the Women's Studies Program. A. Patti was a writer, historian and retired Army lieutenant colonel best known for his work with Ho Chi Minh 1945 and his subsequent 1980 book, Why Viet Nam? Prelude to America's Albatross. After his service in the European Theater during World War II, Patti was transferred to the Office of Strategic Services (OSS – precursor to CIA) in Hanoi, Vietnam. While there, Patti was named head of a secret OSS mission under President Franklin Delano Roosevelt designed to support anti-colonialism in Asia. Part of Patti's mission was to befriend Ho Chi Minh and train Ho's men to fight the occupying Japanese forces in Vietnam. Patti was later pulled out of Vietnam by the United States in 1945 but he continued his friendly relations with Ho and his representatives. After his retirement, Patti worked closely with federal agencies in creating plans for civil governance in the event of a catastrophic attack on the US. Patti also became a well-known writer, recounting his work with Ho in 1945 and the changing face of politics in the Indochina region. His scholarly interests included philosophy, Blacks in the field of philosophy, racism, theodicy and Christian theism, Black theology, and especially the operation of oppressive structures in American society. Jones is well-known for his 1973 monograph  Is God A White Racist? , as well as the oppression investigation tools the Jones Analytic Model (JAM) and Jones Oppression Grid (JOG).","Jones was born July 17, 1933 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was one of six children born to to Henry W. Jones and Lannie (Brogsdale) Jones.","Jones attended Howard University, where he initially majored in engineering before transferring to philosophy. He recieved a BA in philosophy, magna cum laude, from Howard in 1955. Jones earned a Masters of Divinity from Harvard University in 1958.","Jones was ordained by the Unitarian Society of Wellesley Hills, MA on June 15, 1958, and served from 1958-1960 as Assistant Minister and Director of Religious Education at the all-white First Unitarian Church in Providence, Rhode Island.","He was a visiting professor at Howard from 1964-1969 while concurrently working on a PhD in Religious Studies at Brown University, completed in 1969. Jones taught at Yale Divinity School from 1969-1977, and was coordinator of Black Studies there from 1974-1976. ","He became Professor of Religion and the founding director of Black Studies at Florida State University (FSU) in 1977. He served as a community minister at FSU as well.","Jones authored articles regarding oppression and the church's role in social change. In 1973, Beacon Press published Jones's controversial piece,  Is God A White Racist? A Preamble to Black Theology , and in 1978, he co-edited and contributed to the monograph  Black Theology II .","Jones retired from Florida State University in 1999 as Professor Emeritus. He died in Tallahassee, Florida on Friday, July 13, 2012.","Jones was recipient of many awards, including: the African American Studies and Research Center Award for Outstanding Contribution to Philosophy and the African American Community from Purdue University; Distinguished Visiting Professor in Afro-American Studies at Lafayette College in 1983–84; first recipient of the William R.
