(James Wilson), 1947","Thorn (Fictitious character) -- Fiction","The collection is open for research use.","Dr. James W. Hall was born in 1947 in Kentucky. In the early 1980s he moved from Miami to Key Largo as he was enthralled by the Keys. Thus he used the Keys as the backdrop for most of his novels. While there he worked part-time in a local bait shop while teaching during the week at Florida International Unviersity in Miami, where he taught literature and creative writing for 40 years and founded the school's creative writing program in the early 1970s. He has a master's degree in creative writing from Johns Hopkins University and a doctorate in literature from the University of Utah. He was a Fulbright professor of literature in Spain.
