In October of 1955, fifteen music teachers met up to organize the Music Teachers of Volusia County. During the meeting the purpose of creating the organization was discussed. The club was one of the first business women's associations to affiliate with the National Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs, receiving its charter in January 1920.","Between 1920 and 1987, the Business and Professional Women's Club of Tampa worked to increase opportunities for equal participation by women in the economic and political life of the city, state, and nation.
