Clare Bowen lived most of her life in a house at N. Calhoun and Virginia Streets. She graduated in the 1905 class at Florida State College, the last coeducational class before the institution became Florida State College for Women (FSCW). Her house, prefabricated in New York and built on the site in 1832, was at one time owned by the plantation owner and merchant James Kirksey. Ms. Bowen's father, N. M.
