True graduated in 1909 from Colgate University in New York. He completed two years of post-graduate coursework at the University of Chicago, and became a stockbroker, business promoter, and later, the president of True, Webber and Company. A millionaire by the age of thirty, he lost his fortune during the Wall Street Crash of 1929. Afterwards, he devoted much of his time to research, writing, and editorial work, studying early maps of America and Florida. He was especially interested in the voyages of early explorers such as Giovanni da Verrazano, John and Sebastian Cabot, Pánfilo Narvaez, Ponce de León, and Hernando de Soto. True copiously collected map facsimiles, newspaper clippings, and correspondence from map librarians and dealers.  His research interests were varied, and also included such topics as space travel, communism, pirates, and UFOs.  He died in 1967.","Note written by Unknown; revised Jean McAllister, 2011","David O. After her graduation from FSU, she moved to Dallas, Texas where she began her journey as a leadership figure in the LGBT community. Gore moved back to Florida in the 2000s and with Edie Daly, started the LGBTQ Resource Center in partner with the Gulfport Public Library. The LGBTQ Resource Center has won the Newlan-Symons award and the National Medal for Museums and Library Service from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
