He later married Adelina Jane Barlow who was a native of Shreveport, Louisana. During the 1880's Samuel moved his wife and four sons to Florida. Locating in Jacksonville, Samuel worked as a photographer, during which time Adelina gave birth to twin boys. Near the end of the 19th century the Burgert family finally moved to Tampa where three of the Burgerts worked as photographers. Samuel's sons Al and Jean started the Burgert Brothers firm around 1917. They were widley known as skilled, and reputable photographers who maintained the finest equipment and didn't discriminate. They worked nearly every aspect of the business, including news, portrait, and commercial photography.
