There is also 1 scrapbook in Box 4.","The Peace River Valley Citrus Growers Association (PRVCGA) was founded in 1993 for citrus growers in the counties of Hardee and Desoto, Florida. In later years, the PRVCGA expanded further to include Charlotte, Manatee, and Sarasota counties as well. PRVCGA served as a link between commercial citrus growers throughout Florida and elected government officials, and hosted \"roundtable events\" where growers could congregate and share ideas and methods of practice with each other. Barbara Carlton (formerly Barbara Oxford) was the Executive Director of the PRVCGA for 20 years, and she is featured heavily in this collection. She stepped down from her position in 2014. Wanting to be closer to his network of suppliers, he moved his family to Florida and built a packing house next to the Seaboard Coastline Railroad (a common practice in those days). It was at this time his sons, Frederick and Willard, began planting citrus groves, focusing specifically on tangerines. In fact, the first tangerine trees planted were the Dancey. He has lived in Florida since 1967 and presently resides in Lakeland. He received his B.S. in Biological Science from Boston University, M.S. in Biological Science from Northeastern University, and Ph.D. in Biological Science from Florida State University.","Dr. Garrity recently retired as the Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Commission of Hillsborough County (EPC) Florida and had held this position since the year 2000. He was responsible for the overall direction of the agency, which staffs over 130 scientists, engineers and attorneys with the mission of protection of the natural resources, environment, and quality of life in Hillsborough County.","Dr. Garrity has also held the position of Adjunct Associate Professor, College of Public health, University of South Florida from 2003-2008.
