The collection is divided into five series as follows: \nWorks about Laura Riding Jackson, 1963–2017\t\nWorks by Laura Riding Jackson, 1935–1984\t\t\nCorrespondence, 1941–1993\t\nMaterials from Laura's Kitchen, undated\t\nBooks 1925-2024\n\nLaura Riding Jackson, best known as Laura Riding, an American poet and author was born on January 16, 1901 in New York City, NY and died on September 2, 1991 in Wabasso, Florida. She was born Laura Reichenthal and began publishing under her married name, Gottschalk. Riding Jackson graduated Cornell University in 1921 and published her first poem in 1923 in the literary magazine The Fugitive and her first collection of poetry, The Close Chaplet in 1926. After her divorce in 1925, she assumed the surname Riding and moved to England to live with Robert Graves and his wife, Nancy Nicholson. She remained in Europe for 14 years, mainly England and Majorca, Spain, where Riding Jackson and Graves founded Seizin Press in 1927. In 1939, Riding and Graves left Europe for New Hope, Pennsylvania. In 1941, Riding Jackson married Schuyler B. Jackson and they moved to Wabasso, Florida, where she lived until her death in 1991. The Jackson's posthumously published a dictionary titled Rational Meaning: A New Foundation for the Definition of World and Supplementary Essays in 1997. Laura Riding's Florida house has been preserved by the Laura Riding Jackson Foundation and now sits at the Vero Beach campus of Indian River State College. The Foundation supports the legacy of Riding by offering educational events and workshops for writers of all ages, as well as preserving her home."],"names_coll_ssim":["Seizin Press","Jackson, Laura (Riding), 1901-1991","Jackson, Schuyler B.","Graves, Robert, 1895-1985","Stiefel, Marie"],"names_ssim":["UCF Special Collections","Seizin Press","Laura Riding Jackson Foundation","Jackson, Laura (Riding), 1901-1991","Graves, Robert, 1895-1985","Jackson, Schuyler B.","Morris, Susan","Stiefel, Marie"],"corpname_ssim":["UCF Special Collections","Seizin Press","Laura Riding Jackson Foundation"],"persname_ssim":["Jackson, Laura (Riding), 1901-1991","Graves, Robert, 1895-1985","Jackson, Schuyler B.","Morris, Susan","Stiefel, Marie"],"language_ssim":["English"],"descrules_ssm":["Describing Archives: A Content Standard"],"total_component_count_is":71,"online_item_count_is":0,"component_level_isim":[0],"sort_isi":0,"_version_":1874753292505972736,"_root_":"c3e46b40c834f9335c7da81e","timestamp":"2026-08-28T08:01:04.660Z"}]}}],"label":"Breadcrumbs"}}},"links":{"self":"https://flvc.lyrasistechnology.org/catalog/c3e46b40c834f9335c7da81e"}},{"id":"8e87cad770c4897fd823a47e_aspace_0c3b93ff682aaf253887c17f9d2a8aaa","type":"File","attributes":{"title":"The Nutcracker, 2021-12-18-2021-12-19","breadcrumbs":{"id":"https://flvc.lyrasistechnology.org/catalog/8e87cad770c4897fd823a47e_aspace_0c3b93ff682aaf253887c17f9d2a8aaa#breadcrumbs","type":"document_value","attributes":{"value":[{"ref_ssi":"aspace_0c3b93ff682aaf253887c17f9d2a8aaa","ref_ssm":["aspace_0c3b93ff682aaf253887c17f9d2a8aaa","aspace_0c3b93ff682aaf253887c17f9d2a8aaa"],"id":"8e87cad770c4897fd823a47e_aspace_0c3b93ff682aaf253887c17f9d2a8aaa","title_filing_ssi":"The Nutcracker","title_ssm":["The Nutcracker"],"title_tesim":["The Nutcracker"],"unitdate_inclusive_ssm":["2021-12-18-2021-12-19"],"normalized_date_ssm":["2021-12-18-2021-12-19"],"normalized_title_ssm":["The Nutcracker, 2021-12-18-2021-12-19"],"text":["The Nutcracker, 2021-12-18-2021-12-19","Festival of Fine Arts, 1970-2025","Box 25","/repositories/4/archival_objects/7630","folder 39"],"component_level_isim":[2],"parent_ids_ssim":["8e87cad770c4897fd823a47e","8e87cad770c4897fd823a47e_aspace_4d186edccaba8f3eaebadfe1d4636063"],"parent_unittitles_ssm":["Festival of Fine Arts, 1970-2025","Box 25"],"parent_unittitles_tesim":["Festival of Fine Arts, 1970-2025","Box 25"],"parent_levels_ssm":["collection","Box"],"unitid_ssm":["/repositories/4/archival_objects/7630"],"repository_ssim":["The Florida Southern College Archives"],"collection_ssim":["Festival of Fine Arts, 1970-2025"],"has_online_content_ssim":["false"],"child_component_count_isi":0,"level_ssm":["File"],"level_ssim":["File"],"sort_isi":1102,"parent_access_restrict_tesm":["This collection is open for research.
