Molly's father Felix D'Albora had moved to\nBrevard County, Florida in the 1920s with Frank and Molly soon following in 1935. The family\nspecialized in shipping fruit to not only juice companies, but also consumer gifts. The first train\ncar shipment of fruit left Sullivan Packing Co. in 1952. However, not too long after, in 1959, a\nfire destroyed the family business. Frank Sullivan then bought Marion S. Whaley's Victory\nGroves and packinghouse in 1960. Through this purchase, the two companies merged to\ncreate the Sullivan-Victory Groves company. Frank Sullivan III took over the family business\nwhen his father retired; however, multiple freezes in quick succession and the devastation\ncitrus canker led to the closure of the packinghouse in 1991. Frank Sullivan III continued his\nfamily business as a smaller mail-order gift fruit business with a smaller storefront. The old\npackinghouse was placed on National Register of Historic Places in 1993 and later demolished\nin 2020.","Many of the companies in the Competitors subseries were members of the Florida Gift Fruit\nShippers Association alongside Sullivan-Victory Groves. The first three Series in The Collection Athletics, Campus Planning, and History is organized chronologically within each series, including the bulk dates of 1993-2011 for those materials in the collection. The other four Series Early Years, Presidential Search, Events, and FGCU Early Years Event Photographs are organized by the rules of Archival More Product, Less Process. Therefore, not in chronological order, the material was processed in the way the collection was obtained from Susan Evans, including bulk dates of 1995-2007. Then 1988-2021 for Susan Evans time in office and employed by Florida Gulf Coast University. The third part and last four Series in the Collection also utilized the MPLP processing style. Materials for some of the Series were organized by the dates provided and available.","Susan Evans is a Florida native and began working for Florida Gulf Coast University on October 1, 1993, making her the institution's founding staff member at FGCU. Her commitment to Florida Gulf Coast University lasted through four Presidents and several interim Presidents. Evans worked as a University Lobbyist from 1993-2000, then as the Chief of Staff for over 15 years, and Vice President for two years. Evans worked as a corporate secretary to the FGCU Board of Trustees, as well as a committee member for the 2016 FGCU Presidential Search.
