During his 25 years of teaching, he taught  feature writing, magazine writing, magazine editing and management, opinion writing, religion reporting, and literary journalism. He is internationally recognized for his scholarship and has spoken or taught at conferences in Honduras, Istanbul, and numerous journalism conferences in the U.S. and Canada.
