In 1968, Gurnett's daughter Nancy Gurnett Hardy took over the role of Editor after his passing. Prior to her taking on the role, Gurnett Hardy had worked on the newsletter since the age of seven. During their respective times as Editor, both also wrote for other publications including local newspapers the Winter Haven News-Chief and Lakeland Ledger as well as industry publications such as The Produce News and Citrus Industry.
