He received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts, and a Ph.D. in English all from New York University. In 1968, Dr. Nathan began his career at Florida Atlantic University. In his early career, Dr. Nathan wrote several textbooks dealing with English grammar and style, and literary interpretation of the short story and poetry while continuing to write poetry and short stories.","Dr. Nathan published several books of poetry in addition to publishing over 450 poems in various publications. He has published over 22 short stories. In addition to the unpublished poems and short stories in the collection, it also contains his unpublished memoirs and novels. Dr. Nathan published over 62 scholarly articles on Shakespeare, Chaucer, Blake, The Bible, Keats, Shelly, and T. S. Elliot. Dr. Nathan passed away June 11, 2013.","In 2018, additional material donated by his daughter. This material was described and added to the existing collection by Leslie Siegel. In addition to poems and stories, the additional material included essays he wrote as an undergraduate student. The DWCF started as a small organization with a handful of members, but experienced large growth in the 1970s and 1980s. In 1972, the DWCF received its charter, qualifying it as a corporation. Today, the organization supports almost forty clubs throughout Florida and has been affiliated with the National Federation of Democratic Women (NFDW) since 1980. Florida is recognized as a Full Member State under the NFDW because it has a statewide Democratic Women's club organization; however, the NFDW does not directly influence the DWCF in its operations.","\nThe DWCF has a Board of Directors consisting of a president, secretary, treasurer, and supporting officers overseeing nine regions. There is also 1 scrapbook in Box 4.","The Peace River Valley Citrus Growers Association (PRVCGA) was founded in 1993 for citrus growers in the counties of Hardee and Desoto, Florida. In later years, the PRVCGA expanded further to include Charlotte, Manatee, and Sarasota counties as well. PRVCGA served as a link between commercial citrus growers throughout Florida and elected government officials, and hosted \"roundtable events\" where growers could congregate and share ideas and methods of practice with each other. Barbara Carlton (formerly Barbara Oxford) was the Executive Director of the PRVCGA for 20 years, and she is featured heavily in this collection. She stepped down from her position in 2014. Ten years later, the PRVCGA was officially closed down in February of 2024 due to continuous decline in production and market fluctuations, among other struggles.","This collection contains annual membership and meeting records, photographs, newspapers, magazines, newspaper clippings, audio/visual materials, and photographs of PRVCGA members, events, businesses, and workshops.
