The mission of the was to \"advance the understanding and achievement of the goals of environmental and sustainability education through innovative educational research methods, emergent eco-pedagogies, and educational philosophy and practice based on ethics of care and sustainability.\" With this mission and under the direction of the center's director, Dr. Peter Blaze Corcoran, the CESE engaged in a variety of educational opportunities such as a distinguished speaker series.
