Born on May 12, 1943, in Morristown, Tennessee, his father, James Vernon Gamble, had a political career, while his mother, Anna Hill, was a newspaper columnist. Gamble was married to Saundra Lancaster on June 28, 1964.","Gamble was awarded a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of South Florida in 1970 and did graduate work at the University of Tennessee between 1971 and 1972. His professional career includes work as a reporter, sports editor, sports cartoonist, and political cartoonist. Brandt was born on September 21, 1932, in Council Bluffs, Iowa.  He lived in several southwestern Iowa towns during his early years.  His father was a member of the U. S. Army Reserve and was called to active duty in 1940.  For the next nine years, Brandt followed his father from army duty station to duty station.  He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from New Mexico Military Institute, Roswell, New Mexico.","Brandt was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U. S. Army on June 2, 1953.  He spent the next 28 years in the Army which included tours in Alaska, Korea, Vietnam, and West Germany.  He was awarded the Combat Medical Badge in Vietnam.  In 1972, the Army sent him to the University of Northern Colorado to obtain a master's degree in education.  He retired from active military duty on May 1, 1981, at which time he was awarded the Legion of Merit.  Since his retirement, he has been a full-time instructor at the Army Education Center, Fitzsimons Army Medical Center, Aurora, Colorado.","Transferred from the Institute on World War II and the Human Experience to FSU Libraries Special Collections \u0026 Archives in July 2022.","The collection of Clarke M.
