She grew up in Raton, NM and attended St. Patrick's Academy from kindergarden through 12th Grade.  Upon graduating from high school, she attended New Mexico Highlands University for three years. In college, Jacques sang in Spanish over KFUN radio station.  \n \nShe enlisted in the Women's Army Corps in March 20, 1943 in Santa Fe, NM as a clerk typist. After basic training, she was assigned to Sedalia Army Air Field in Warrensburg, MO. Jacques transferred overseas to the Pacific Theater in December 1945.  She was stationed in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands. \n \nAfter being discharged, Jacques enrolled at the University of New Mexico to complete her degree. She was recruited by U.C. Berkeley as a bilingual Administrative Assistant to the Director of Bancroft Library where she translated historical manuscripts from Spanish to English.\n \nShe married Frank Jacques in 1949. In college, Jacques sang in Spanish over KFUN radio station.  \n \nShe enlisted in the Women's Army Corps in March 20, 1943 in Santa Fe, NM as a clerk typist. After basic training, she was assigned to Sedalia Army Air Field in Warrensburg, MO. Jacques transferred overseas to the Pacific Theater in December 1945.  She was stationed in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands. \n \nAfter being discharged, Jacques enrolled at the University of New Mexico to complete her degree. She was recruited by U.C. Berkeley as a bilingual Administrative Assistant to the Director of Bancroft Library where she translated historical manuscripts from Spanish to English.\n \nShe married Frank Jacques in 1949.
