Conceived by Broward College's third president, A. Hugh Adams, the hall was built between 1976–1979 as both a community cultural center and an academic laboratory for music, theatre, and dance programs. Named in honor of Ralph R. Bailey, whose estate funded the hall's construction, it opened on October 13, 1979, with a gala attended by Florida Governor Bob Graham.","For decades, Bailey Hall served as one of the region's premier performance spaces, hosting internationally known musicians, actors, and lecturers, including a celebrated question-and-answer series with actor Cary Grant, who appeared at the venue in its early years. It has since evolved into a vital venue for both Broward College student performances and regional arts organizations, serving the tri-county area as a cultural landmark.","This record group complements the archival documentation of Broward College's visual and performing arts history and preserves the legacy of Bailey Hall's programming, outreach, and institutional significance within the cultural landscape of South Florida.","This collection includes framed and unframed posters, event advertisements, and administrative concession records from Bailey Hall during its active programming years in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
