The appeal was filed to contest a district court decision of 1988 made by the Special Masters assigned to hear the case and who found for the defendant. \n  The original case was filed in 1983, with Forehand alleging discrimination on the part of Florida Hospital at Chattahoochee with regard to being passed over for promotion in 1981. The Special Master filed his findings of fact and conclusions in 1991 after requests by the defendant. Throughout her career in environmental policy across the Tampa Bay area, Thompson was the Grants Coordinator for the City of Tampa, an Adjunct Professor in Environmental Resource Management at USF, served on the Governing Board of the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD), chaired the Tampa Greenways \u0026#38; Trails Citizens Advisory Committee, is a member emeritus of Florida Greenways \u0026#38; Trails Foundation, and serves on the Selection and General Committees of the Jan K. Platt Environmental Lands Acquisition and Protection Program (ELAPP). Thompson is a founding member of the Tampa Bay Conservancy and has also been involved in Board of Director roles for the Florida Aquarium and Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful. The DWCF started as a small organization with a handful of members, but experienced large growth in the 1970s and 1980s. In 1972, the DWCF received its charter, qualifying it as a corporation. Today, the organization supports almost forty clubs throughout Florida and has been affiliated with the National Federation of Democratic Women (NFDW) since 1980.
