After the original Bank of Oviedo permanently closed in January 1930, Oviedo, Florida residents were left without a bank in town for sixteen years. In 1945, local businesspeople applied for a new bank charter and on July 1st, 1946, the Citizens Bank of Oviedo opened on Broadway Street.
