She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota in 1939. Several years later, in 1961, McCrimmon would go on to earn her Master of Science in Library Science from the University of Illinois followed by a Ph.D. from Florida State University in 1973.\n \tMcCrimmon started her career in 1961 as an Assistant Librarian at the Illinios State Natural History Survey. In 1962 she accepted a position as a Research Associate with the Bureau of Community Planning in Urbana, IL. Burak assigned Kae Lorentz, John Settle, Joseph Kaminski, Courtney Toelle, and Steven Craig Trelstad to work on the collection. Processing started in August 2017 and ended on November 2018. Initially, there were 114 linear feet of materials (114 boxes) in the collection. James A. Haley, as chairman of the House Interior Committee during thr 1970s, was instrumental in the creation of Big Cypress National Preserve.
