This portion of the collection covers the period of 1883-1957, when the president was the primary administrator of the college and had a much closer relationship with students and faculty than is possible today. As the college expanded in the post-war boom of GI's and their children, the bureaucracy grew, and the beginnings of that can be seen in these files.
