A branch of the Palmer family came to Florida from the Pendleton district of South Carolina, settling in Monticello in 1829. Martin Palmer brought 9 children, enslaved persons, and household goods. The Palmer family cemetery is also on the grounds, the only family cemetery in Jefferson County still associated with a family home.\n One son, Thomas Martin Palmer, was the first physician in a family that went on to have at least 14 physicians. Dr. Thomas Martin Palmer was born in 1821 and served as a surgeon for the 2nd Florida Infantry. His brother, son, and nephew all went on to become physicians. Notes from a film canister were written exactly as found as the label could not be removed. Albums falling apart were taken apart and foldered. Albums in reasonable condition had the photographs attached properly with corners and the pages interleaved to prevent sticking. Loose album pages in the Foster subseries on Plant Information were merely foldered as they were not in an album and were found without context. Collecion rehoused and finding aid revised by Chynna Thomas in 2023."],"relatedmaterial_html_tesm":["\u003cp\u003eA large book collection accompanies this collection and may be accessed by performing a series search \"Michael A.
