During his time in the European Theater he participated in the Battle of Rhineland and the Battle of Central Europe. On October 11, 1945 he was appointed the non-commissioned information and education officer for his unit. Throughout his time in service, Jackson was a Corporal and a Staff Sergeant. Jackson received his final promotion on December 29, 1945 to Technical Sergeant. He left the service in 1946.","Prior to his enlistment, Jack had received a BS with distinction from Purdue University in 1937, a BS in Library Science with Honors in 1938 from University of Illinois, Urbana as well as his MA in Library Science in 1941. Jackson received his final promotion on December 29, 1945 to Technical Sergeant.
